In september 2006 I went looking for a CMS for an non-profit organization I support. Since episerver that I work with most of the days is out of price range I went looking for free alternatives.
My requirements were:
- .NET 2.0
- easy to get started with
- open source
- nice editor interface
At the time I evaluated dotnetnuke, cuyahoga, sprocket and umbraco. What mostly bugged me was the way they imposed a certain programming style for the external web interface that didn't fit with my desire to use .NET 2.0. I assume they are all fine systems and things have probably changed since then. You should give several systems a try to find the one that best fits your needs.
In the end I decided to do it myself, so here is N2. It's been mutch fun to make and it would be truly great if it can be useful to you.
